Meet Mike

Michael Garcia isn't just a candidate; he's a neighbor, a dedicated public servant, and an advocate for the families of Mount Dora. Michael is a loving husband and father, a lifelong law enforcement officer, a small business owner, and a community warrior.

With deep roots in Mount Dora, he understands that our city's strength lies in its people, its safety, and its unmatched natural beauty. He is running to ensure that as Mount Dora grows, we maintain the unique character and spirit that make us proud to call this place home.

A Lifetime of Service.

As a lifetime public servant, Mike brings a foundation built on leadership, accountability, and sacrifice. His journey began in the South Bronx, where he embraced the core principles of hard work and resilience. This motivated Mike's commitment to public safety, which started as an officer with the City of Orlando Police Department.

During his tenure, Mike served on the Board of Directors for the YMCA Teen Achievers Program and as State President of the National Latino Peace Officers Association. Additionally, he was part of Orlando's Mounted Unit and the Orlando International Airport Division. After retiring, Mike went to work for the Mount Dora Police Department, where he and his family live. His wife DeeDee is a long-time resident of Mount Dora, and they both have deep roots in the community.

While with the Mount Dora Police Department, Mike held positions as a school resource officer and community relations officer. Following his retirement, Mike remained active in Mount Dora by serving as a board member on the Mt. Dora Fire Fighters' Pension Fund and the Mount Dora Center of the Arts. Further, he lends his time to the National Scholarship of Student Athletes.

As a proud resident, involved community member, local entrepreneur, and family man raising his children in Mount Dora, he remains a passionate advocate for our city’s well-being. Mike is seeking a seat on the City Council to provide the ethical, grounded leadership necessary to honor our heritage while securing a safe, vibrant, and flourishing future for all residents of Mount Dora.
